30. Transformation Overview

Each of us who has received the invitation for adoption is on a living road that one truth at the time is implanting LIFE – God’s very nature into our being – and thus bringing us closer and closer to our Father. The Bible states that when we see Him, we will be like He is:

“Dear friends, now we are God’s children. What we will be isn’t completely clear yet. We do know that when Christ appears we will be like him because we will see him as he is.”
(1 john 3:2 GW)

By this scripture we can understand that as we are transformed, we are brought closer and closer to his likeness; and that when we finally see him without restrictions, we will prove that we are just like He is! because we will see Him as He is! In other words, the capacity to see Him as He truly is can only exist in us if we are like He is, and that is precisely what our Father has committed to do: Transform us into the very likeness of Jesus:

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:28-29 KJV)

Let us now take a look at the system by which this transformation, from human – to child of God will be accomplished in each of our lives:

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:3-5 KJV)

The first part of this scripture states who we were. One word encapsulates all that is said: Humans: “foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another”
But then, there is the divine intervention: “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us”
This was an intervention that did not expect or required man’s worthiness or effort. But according to His mercy, he saved us!
It is very important to note that the declaration being made is one of completeness: HE SAVED US! Past tense, done deal, it is something achieved and done with! We have already touched on the actions God has taken to make our adoption possible, but now we need to look at the resulting provision that is set before us so that what has been already achieved for all can be made a reality in each of us:

“(1) But according to his mercy he saved us; (2) by the washing of regeneration, and (3) renewing of the Holy Ghost.”

Here are, very clearly stated, the three components that make up God’s transformation system. Let’s take time to introduce ourselves into the understanding of each.

The very first component is MERCY.

Mercy is a big, big, component of our salvation! Mercy is something you will do well investing much time to learn, understand, receive and practice. It is part of your new nature as a child of God. But for this introduction, we will only state that Mercy is the decision and the actions that have made possible that humans in absolute enmity with God escape destruction and receive adoption! Listen to the words God speaks in this regard:
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:8 and 10 KJV)

Sinners and enemies reconciled to God by the death of His Son! Imagine that! Absolutely illogical to the human mind, but this is the decision God made and the actions he took to make our salvation, adoption and transformation possible. IT IS DONE AND CAN NOT BE UNDONE!
Picture MERCY as a gigantic sphere where all of humanity fits. Mercy is the size of Love which is God’s size. That is what it took to make our adoption possible.
For us, the challenge is to receive mercy and to learn to live within it. This is the first phase of our transformation and we will spend more time on understanding the basic aspects of Mercy on future episodes. But for now, please see yourself inside this gigantic environment where you and I with all our faults, defects, guilt and problems are fully accepted and loved without exception! Take it in and enjoy it. MERCY WILL NEVER AGAIN LEAVE YOU AND YOU MUST NEVER LEAVE IT! MERCY IS FOR YOU ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE!
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life..” (Psaml 23:6 KJV)

The second component is: The Washing of Regeneration.

We will spend time on learning, receiving and permitting the washing of regeneration to operate in our beings. It is an amazing provision our Father has made to literally cleanse our entire being from all that the human nature is so that we can be made his children.
Who does the washing? God does it! Who gets washed? I do. God washes me clean of all that is not compatible with his nature and stands in the way of my transformation!
This is a very delicate and important process. It’s goal is to “REGENERATE” or make again every part of my being so that I can function freely and naturally as a child of God.
By now, you already understand that God only needs your permission, he does not need, want or expect your efforts. He is mighty to regenerate you into a new creature and have you ready for the next process of your transformation into his child.

The third component: Renewing of The Holy Ghost.

As we already know, God does not want to produce clean humans, but to transform humans into his children and that requires a change of nature.
The Renewing of the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, does just that. As we are cleansed through the washing of regeneration our being is now able to accept God’s nature. The Holy Spirit will then proceed to implant it in each of us, and then He will teach us and empower us to live in it!
Each aspect of God’s nature is to be implanted and activated within us. As we receive it we are trained on how to allow God’s nature to operate our existence and as we do, we experience God’s very life: Eternal Life! It is through this process that we are made compatible with our Father and our great brother Jesus! So our Father has prepared amazing gifts and services that will accomplish His dream in each of us! Being renewed is being created into a son or daughter of God!
But let’s not forget why God wants this to happen. Let’s read the conclusion of this amazing scripture written on Titus 3:7
“so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (KJV)
Become HEIRS! That is our Father’s dream. His Family fully capable of receiving and enjoying with Him the inheritance that He has prepared for each of us!

In the following episodes we will take each of these components of our Father’s transformation system and learn how to receive them and allow Him to make his dream our reality!

See you soon!
