31. Transformation is Served! Come and Get It!

Our adoption is so amazing! It clearly demonstrates God’s intent and unsurpassed wisdom in that every detail of our transformation from humans into his children has been carefully planned, executed and provided for each of us! Your transformation is already served! Come and get it! Truly, that is all that stands between you and possessing the reality of your adoption as a child of God.

Before we start discovering each of the powerful elements of God’s transformation system, it is important that we take a moment to reflect on the simple yet vital conditions that have been put in place to allow or prevent the transformation process to take place in our being. We don’t want to leave any room for confusion in this regard.

First of all, Adoption and the transformation that makes it possible are God initiated, God provided and God dependent. Our Father has made sure that his omnipotence is fully at work to bring about his dream in our lives. In fact, He is so intent on this that the only person assigned to the task of making our adoption a reality in each of us is His own Spirit! No one else has the wisdom, love, patience, power and everything else it takes to take a human being and make him or her into a child of the Eternal Creator! I love, appreciate and respect this amazing fact about our adoption. That is how much each of us mean to our Father! As humans, most of us are distant to our dad, and even those of us that can say we were close to them have no concept of the degree of intimacy our new Father desires to have with each of us. We were formed in our mother’s womb, nurtured as infants by her, and dad went to work in most cases. That is not to say that many of us have been close to our fathers, but when it comes to being adopted by the Creator, He is absolutely intent in developing a personal, intimate, unobstructed, continuous relationship with each of us!
This is why the Holy Spirit comes into our lives from the very moment we accept the living word that invites us to consent to the invitation for adoption. From that moment on, God’s own Spirit comes to live within you and is your Father’s guarantee that He will fulfill his commitment to you eternally!

“And you also became God’s people when you heard the true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ, and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had promised. The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised his people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to those who are his. Let us praise his glory!”
(Ephesians 1:13-14 GNB)

As you can clearly see, God is in charge, God is engaged and God is responsible for making good on the promise of adoption, transformation and inheritance he made to you and me in his love.

Because all of this is God dependent, each of us must be clear on what our specific participation is. We have clearly discussed in previous episodes the absolute contrast that religion proposes because it is a human effort, human achievement proposal. Humanly speaking, religion’s proposal is logical; makes sense. But it is also doomed to failure, because no human being has the means necessary to become anything other than what he or she was originally created to be: a human being, subject to the human condition of mortality, finite, weakness, ignorance, fear, etc. etc. Given that reality, the concept that any deity would demand that humans change their nature and become what they can’t become is absurd! Yet, this is what many, so many of us are sincerely caught in. Doing our very best to please God and satisfy the list of requirements and rules we believe are the condition to his favor. Respectfully, I challenge you to consider the alternative!

Who is responsible for your existence? Some find the concept of a supreme being so illogical that they prefer to offer other absurd hypothesis such as “accidental evolution guided by mother nature” or “intelligent design by an alien civilization that seeded human life on our planet” etc. Again, respectfully, I challenge you to prove it to yourself that the Creator – created you with the intention and sole purpose that you would make the choice of accepting or rejecting his invitation to be adopted and transformed into his son or daughter! That action and that alone is what each of us must do and keep on doing. Let’s look at this more carefully.

One of the hardest things to understand, believe and practice in our new existence is the fact that WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO. WE ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO RECEIVE!
What is the net result of human effort? God says:

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
(Isaiah 64:6 KJV)

“When you were the slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness, what did you gain from doing the things that you are now ashamed of ? The result of those things is death!”
(Romans 6:20-21 GNB)

The very best we could offer can only be compared to filthy, corrupt, abominable rags! All around the world, devout man and woman are faithfully engaged in efforts that God states are useless! Because no matter how well intended and how costly these efforts may be, they only result in corruption! Look at all the scandals that flow from the failed conduct of religious people all around the world; from immorality, to fraud, to abuse, to murder, war and genocide, etc. etc. Why? Because these efforts are man conceived, man initiated and man performed. God calls them “DEAD WORKS”
This is one of the key truths that we have to receive in order to be in a position to receive all that our Father has prepared for us. “DEAD WORKS” stand in the way of receiving because when we engage in doing them, we create an expectation of earnings; we have done something good, therefore we expect to be recompensed for it, which is fine until you bring in the other side of the equation: all our misdeeds and wrongdoings; what do we deserve now? Can you see the problem?
God’s solution to this entire dilemma is to eliminate it altogether. To get us out of the unattainable race seeking for “enlightenment” “holiness” “perfection” “worthiness” etc. This is so important to him that he advises us that we MUST REPENT FROM DEAD WORKS!

“Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God..”
(Hebrews 6:1)

To repent means to turn what we liked into an abomination. In other words to abhor the very notion of doing that which used to be a desire. Most of us found comfort and self worth in our good works and religious efforts, it gave us a way not to feel so bad about ourselves; in fact, it probably made us feel pretty good at times.

Jesus told the story of a devout man who walked into the temple at the same time that a rotten scoundrel man did and they both begun to pray. The scoundrel could not even dare to look up, he knew he was bad; no excuses, no justifications and bitting on his chest he begged for mercy saying: “Please have mercy on me a sinner” At the other end of the altar stood the “righteous” man, he did look up to heaven and said: :God, I thank you that I am not like that sinner; I pray and fast, give my tithes and offerings, help the poor…”
Can you picture what was happening here? Both these humans saw themselves in light of their dead works. The scoundrel found nothing he could offer as good, the religious man had plenty on his inventory to show God; his whole life was about doing good things for God and others! But then Jesus offered his valuation of both these men; he said: “Who do you think went home justified?” That is a big statement! It meant God had listened to each of the men and evaluated their prayer and declared one of them justified! Listen to Jesus again: “I tell you, the sinner went home justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:10-14 ESV)

Do you see? NO MORE DEAD WORKS! Ask your Father to help you give up everything you’ve ever done that you find merit in. Anything that you have done that has helped you to believe your are better than your neighbor, anything you sacrificed in order to gain or earn God’s mercy or favor: DEAD WORKS! Don’t let any of these things stand in the way of your adoption and transformation. You can rest from the demand of religion and enter into the beauty of your Father’s provision of Grace and Mercy.
Only ONE thing for us to do: RECEIVE AND KEEP RECEIVING!

See you in our next episode!
